Old friends

In 2005 on August 11th I drove 2.5 hrs from where I lived to make my first BASE jump. When I arrived I received a few minutes of instruction and headed out to a local 480ft antenna. Melissa Pemberton who had learned to jump a month or so prior came out to watch me make my very first jump.

We stayed in touch and made jumps together for about 3 years. After 4 years of both of us running around, playing, jumping and embarking on our own life adventures we reconnected!!

So rad to see old friends still doing what they love!

Off season training

The winter time for me is always my slow jumping season, the cold weather really gets to me at times and I find myself tucked away, warm in my home! Because I am the kid of person who looks forward to the start of the next jumping season I try my hardest to stay in shape so once the warm weather hits there is no grace period of how hard I charge because I need to get back into shape!

In the off season there are several things that I do to stay in shape for hiking and jumping, all of which I find to be extremely fun! :)

First I eat right because proper nutrition is key to an active lifestyle

I do the typical go to the gym 2-3 times a week and do card, but my favorite activity of all is Parkour. I spend 2-4 nights a week at a local gymnastics studio practicing wall spins, running front flips, standing back tucks and many other variations of inverted wonderfulness. It helps keep me in shape but also improves my…flipping capacity so once the season hits it is time for some massive flipping/spinning/rolling action!!!

Not only do I stay performing at top notch (my top notch) but I have a blast in doing so!

Students

I have been so stoked recently about the incredible kind of people who have approached me about learning how to BASE jump. The sport brings together all kinds from all different walks of life and it is truly incredible.

Over the years I have met some RAD individuals with amazing stories!  I look forward to the many more to come.

All I can say is I am excited for the coming months and the awesome oportunity I have to help introduce some sick new people to the sport that I love so much!

Inspiration

Looking up to the people who inspire me. Seeing the people that I have inspired. Don’t be scared to inspire or be inspired… Everyone needs it :) and everyone has it! We all have something to offer! It just depends on if we are to scared to show it! Don’t let fear dictate your future, with out fear the possibilities are endless.

Nutrition and BASE jumping

Nutrition and BASE Jumping are two things, which at first, I believed had nothing to do with one another.

However over the years I have grown increasingly fond of how proper nutrition contributes to my abilities in the sport! I wish I could say that if I ate an apple then all of a sudden I would acquired super human powers and the ability to huck major flips with incredible precision, but that would be a false statement ;)

Over the years I have encountered painful injuries, debilitating fatigue, lost countless hours of sleep, endured prolonged periods in the car or other transportation methods, as well as soreness/joint pain from hiking and constant harsh impact that people generally don’t experience on a daily basis.

All of the above paired with my belief that, “I’m fit and physically active I can eat what ever I want attitude”, brought me to a place where at 22 I felt as if I had the body of an average 70 year old even though it didn’t look like it. ;)

Getting out of bed every morning was a chore…Well, opening my eyes was torture and standing up was the chore because each joint that could possibly pop would and others that I believe would never pop…. did.

My recovery time after a BASE trip was long and seemed to be getting longer. At a certain point I tried to just accept the fact that I was someone who would endure physical pain on a daily basis for the rest of my life.

Well spoiler alert, I was wrong!  At the age of 23 my ideas about my physical pain were not just thrown in my face but almost completely diminished all through proper nutrition and cleansing. These were all things I had tried over and over again with no success for many different reasons, but in short I couldn’t find the easy button.

After years of struggling with trying to balance meals, create healthy alternatives for road snacks as well as trying to design some form of food plan to help with my recovery after BASE trips, I found my easy button!  I found a complete system…a brilliant nutritionally complete system that satisfies every one of my additional needs.

All I can say is I know have massive energy,  experience a shorter recovery time,  with better physical strength and endurance as well as enjoying a convenient and tasty solution. What’s not to like?

Taking the leap, quitting my job, working from home

I woke up one morning and realized that my job was holding me back… in more ways then one. As much as I’m sure we all enjoy job security when having a typical 9-5 or another variation of such job, I believe that each time we show up to work, each time we think about work and most certainly every time in-between, unless we LOVE our job, a little piece of us diminishes.

I enjoyed my job, I worked as a full time nanny. The kids were great… most of the time. The pay was decent, the hours sucked because lets face it no one really wants to wake up at 5am to get ready to go to work and if you do there is something wrong with you. Shortly after the novelty of having a “normal job” wore off I began to have this feeling, a very unsettling feeling, of running in circles, doing the same thing over and over again. Previous to this job I had worked in skydiving full time as  a videographer, Instructor as well as the proud owner of a Drop Zone so my pace as a nanny was much slower. I worked with one family for exactly a year before the constant driving force inside me that told me “I cant work 40 hrs a week, I can’t just stay inside all day, I have to move, travel, LIVE and have fun” took over and I decided to take the leap, to quit my job to peruse my top 2 passions BASE jumping and health/wellness. I found a company that suited my needs with regards to health and wellness and I started my journey. Coaching people to achieve better health and wellbeing, impacting lives, gaining better personal health all while having the freedom to travel at the drop of a hat, BASE jump when ever I feel like it and not worry about the bank account. This is what I call truly living.

I never realized how much a 40-50 hr a week job negatively impacted my life, my happiness and of course my travels until… I quit. I was once called a “free bird” as well as a “power house in a pint sized package”. I have finally decided to harness both of those descriptions of me and move forward in my life doing what I love and making money all at the same time!!

My thoughts on New Years resolutions

There are two types of people

-Ones who make resolutions on New Years

-Ones who rebel agains making them on New Years

I firmly believe in making resolutions of sorts, plans, goals etc. I support anyone at any time for making a resolution or goal, and me being so incredibly fond of them for my self will use any and all excuses to make resolutions, set goals and plans to achieve them. I set new big goals every few months,  stepping stones to make those goals a reality every week and small ones every day :) And yes on New Years is one of the many times I set those goals and write down my resolutions :) . Knowing what I want is the first step to achieving it!

Pictures are up

I know it is about time, but the pictures are finally up! I am still working with some of the sizing issues I am having but it is a great start and I am very happy to finally have them posted!!! As always I will be keeping my photo’s up to date with all of my latest trips, jumps and adventures! Enjoy
